The fall semester is drawing to a close, and with it ends the 2008 marching season. The Golden Wave Alumni Association will be presenting the Annette Kasparian Tireless Service Award at the band banquet on December 5. In light of this, we would like to make one last push for donations and encourage you to make a donation - of whatever size - to the fund to honor this remarkable woman. Remember, no amount is too small. Big things can be accomplished when everybody contributes a little: we would be able to make this a recurring scholarship if each member of the alumni association donated a mere $5.
Donations can be mailed to the Golden Wave Alumni Association (P.O. Box 97430, Waco, Texas 76798) or can be submitted via the Scholarship link on the website (www.goldenwavealumni.org). If you are mailing a check, please indicate on it somewhere that it is to go to the scholarship fund.

Baylor Homecoming 2008 took place during the weekend of October 31 and November 1. The Alumni Band worked diligently over the years to ensure that Homecoming continually grew in scope and in popularity, and the same proved true of the first homecoming as the Golden Wave Alumni Association, Inc. As in years past, the alumni festivities proved a great success!
Alumni of the Golden Wave Marching Band enjoyed a wide variety of choices when deciding how to celebrate with colleagues and friends. Some alumni marched to the bonfire with current band members; others dropped by the Alumni Association’s Bonfire Extravaganza tent to enjoy some candy, to pick up a free GWAA coffee mug, and to chat with old friends. Still other alumni warmed themselves after the Friday night bonfire with a cup of hot chocolate at the Kappa Kappa Psi/ Tau Beta Sigma Hot Chocolate Social or took in doughnuts and juice Saturday morning from a tent with a view of the homecoming parade. Many chose yet again to play in the stands during the Homecoming game or to march during halftime in the script show. Perhaps most importantly, all alumni enjoyed an entertaining and gut-wrenching game on the part of our Bears (what a nail-biter!) and a nostalgic time of “When I was here” reminiscing between friends.
Next year, Baylor will be celebrating its centennial Homecoming so make plans to join the Golden Wave Alumni Association, Inc. for this extra-special year of coming home! And, continue checking in at the website for information on the Annette Kasparian Tireless Service Award, regional Christmas parties, and Alumni Take on Courtside (we hope to see you there!). Sic ‘em bears!

The Waco Area Holiday Party will be held on December 6, 2008, from 6:30-9:00 PM at the McKenzie residence. Festivities will include heavy hors d’oeuvres and Chinese Christmas (please bring a wrapped White Elephant gift if you would like to participate). Spouses and significant others are welcome! Fun will be had by all, so come out and get in the holiday spirit with fellow BUGWB alums!!

Either bring your favorite appetizer, dessert, or $5 donation to the pot. Spouses and families are welcome! Fun will be had by all, so come out and get in the holiday spirit with fellow BUGWB alums!!
